The case of Robert Reynolds, called Bob by those who know him, but Sentry by the rest of the world, is a complex one.Robert Reynolds was a drug addict and, on the hunt for drugs, ended up stumbling upon his professor's secret serum. Taking this serum, it did more than get him high. It ended up giving him superpowers. However, this also came with a price, creating an entirely new creature, The Void. The Void is best defined as a creature of malice, completely evil, seeking to dominate the will of Robert Reynolds. This force seeks to destroy anything it can, and has been successful many times. Thankfully, there was a force created to counteract this malice— the complete opposite, The Sentry.Balancing this has caused many problems. Once, the Sentry saved a flight with 152 people on board. Meanwhile, a flight with 152 people on board elsewhere around the world was destroyed by The Void. For as much saving Sentry does, it can also be destructive, even unintentionally, as he is brutal in combat.It goes without saying that Robert Reynolds is mentally unstable. He has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and agoraphobia. He has been formerly preyed on because of this by people such as Norman Osborn. The Void is more than just voices that Sentry hears, although that is one aspect. The Void is a creature that refuses to die, tied to the fate of the Sentry. These mental weaknesses have proven to be vulnerabilities, as Sentry fears giving into the Void, for he knows that if you give this creature an inch, he'll take an entire mile. It is the sorrow of Sentry that can trigger the Void, such as when his wife was killed by Bullseye.
